MORA was formed when two regional recycling associations merged in 1993. The Ozarks Recycling Association (formed in Springfield, Mo.) and the Missouri State Recycling Association (formed in St. Louis, Mo.) decided to merge into one statewide organization devoted to waste reduction and recycling. MORA was the result of that merger.
The St. Louis Regional Partnership for Electronics Recovery was formed in 2002 as a result of a grant issued by the St. Louis-Jefferson Solid Waste Management District.
