Indian state considers e-scrap law
The Indian state of Maharashtra is moving forward on a law covering the disposal of e-scrap in the state. The Maharashtra Department of Environment (Mumbai) is preparing a draft bill with the help of other local governmental agencies.
The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (Mumbai) estimates that more than 55,000 tons of e-scrap is generated in the Mumbai-Pune area annually.
Details about the draft legislation were not available, though it was said that local civic bodies will monitor the management of the scrap at district levels.
