Recycling coordinators favor producer take-back
Resource Recycling's nationwide survey of approximately 300 recycling officials found that nearly 90 percent of local-government recycling coordinators support a federal e-scrap law based on producer responsibility.
According to the research, 87.5 percent of coordinators approved of a take-back system, while 57.6 percent also endorsed an advanced-recovery approach. Nearly 66 percent supported landfill bans on selected recyclables, including electronics.
Complete results and a full analysis of the survey are available in the September 2008 issue of Resource Recycling magazine.
